Portrait Practice: Glamour Lighting

This time I was practicing with glamour lighting. That is. I placed the soft box directly in front of myself about four feet away, bottom of the box at about chin level, light facing straight forward (not tipped down).  I did not use any reflectors, hair lights, etc, because I wanted to see just what one light would do.  All were shot at ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/20s.

  1. Gorgeous lighting, I especially like the softness of the first. This makes me ever frustrated there aren’t any lighting classes available here. Your experiments are rather inspiring, thanks!

      I used auto focus in this case, but at other times I have also used “stand-in” items like an extra light stand to manually focus on, then moved it out of the way to make the shot.
