Not sure….. I wonder if both might be benefit from a gentle vignette to the length of the left hand side. The colour version gives a better rendition of his hair, I feel. I also wonder if the colour version gives better account of his maturity and hence a greater feeling of wisdom. (for what it’s worth.)
I think I prefer the color! The black and white is nice, but I feel like there is not enough contrast, as though he is blending into the background (it’s almost too bright).
I prefer the colour, I like the contrast between his hair colour and his skin tone but perhaps with a white shirt and saturate the blue in the jeans a little?
Ya, know, I don’t think Sweetie has a white button-down shirt. I grabbed him in what he was in that day, if I recall. In this I was experimenting with some presets in my software.
His white hair is a challenge to shoot, and I’ve done a better job of it at other times. Learning, learning, learning . . .
No disrespect to the gent, but I prefer the black & white one

I, too, would have to say B&W. Nicely done.

Thanks, Maralee. I like this treatment best too. His portrait needed a little punch and I think this works nicely.

The first one has an extra feel to it, I think.

With his skin tone I would have to go for color, although the black and white is well done.
