Symbiosis

I took these photos on June 6th and thought you might enjoy them. The musk thistles that I’ve been so fascinated with are also hives of insect activity.  All kinds of bugs make their home within the plants’ spiny leaves.  I thought these ants were using this thistle as an ant nursery, but they may have been harvesting honeydew from the aphids living there. Either way, I found the activity quite fascinating.

I am testing out the “gallery” feature of WordPress, but I have also posted the photos on SmugMug, in the likely event that WP flattens the photos’ color.

  1. I went to the SmugMug gallery . . . but then I’m partial to it.

What I did not like about the gallery feature when I used it, is that each photo click registered as a view. It inflated the views for the day to something like five times the usual.

Perhaps I did something wrong when I set it up, but it was not obvious to me. Please let me know if you experience something similar.

    And yes, nice macro work.

    • Thanks for the heads up about the inflated counts. I’ll let you know if the same thing happens to me. I didn’t see anything in the set up that indicated that I could turn that feature off (of course, I wasn’t aware of it).

Yeah, I like SmugMug better too. The colors are true to what I see in my processed shots. Even using the WP gallery flattens the colors.
