Day 261 – 6400

I’m camera’d out today. After four days of volunteering in the hot sun, finding time to shoot about 300 photos each day, then having to deal with all that is involved in gleaning the good ones and processing them, I didn’t have much spirit for picking up a camera today.

However, the 365 Project calls, so this evening I experimented with some quick shots using my 50mm lens at high ISO (6400) and short focal length (f/3.2).

Day 254 – Fun with Photoshop: Triple-Play

This was my inspiration for today’s photo.

After dinner tonight I set my tripod up in the backyard and it didn’t take Nina too long to give me an idea. She loves to nose around in these boards for lizards and so I just sat there and waited. I used my flash, with the LumiQuest bounce attachment. My shutter speed was a bit slow, hence the motion-blur in the exposures.  Post production was quite time-consuming, with lots of “Oh, Phooeys” and start-overs, but all-in-all this was a lot of fun!

Day 245 – 56

Just messing around in my make-shift light studio today.  My friend gave me some seamless paper, so I tacked it to the wall and set up my lights.  I needed the practice because it looks like I’ve got another portrait gig coming up and I wanted to be sure I was comfortable with my lights and backdrop.  Besides, I just need to keep practicing and trying new things.

You can find more from my shoot at my new gallery, 56.

Day 244 – Friday Night Drunk Shooting

Well, not drunk exactly.  A tad tipsy. A bit more than a glass of wine in me and I headed out to the backyard with camera in hand. Nina was a whirling dervish – “Whee! It’s Friday! Mom’s in the backyard!”

So no luck there.

But Buddy…ah my boy!  Such a handsome boy!

Hey, 2/3 down, 1/3 to go. Emilio, did I get my math right?

Day 242 – Yesterday was a bust

Busy – from before dawn until the time I went to bed. Didn’t even get to pull my camera from the bag. So, I have to pull something from another day.

I took this a couple of days ago . . . Nina farting around in the backyard, hoping to find a lizard under the roll of chicken wire.

And here is another one of the still life photos I shot the other night.  I created shadow by holding a board above the light and using it to block light falling on the foreground. I like what the pepper is doing in the stem of the wine glass.

Day 237 – Fun with Photoshop: Smudge Stick Quickies

It’s been a full day and I didn’t get home until nearly 9 tonight. So I grabbed my camera and flash and snapped a few of the dogs.  Though the originals shots were fine, I added a Smudge Stick filter to them in Photoshop, just for fun.  It is subtle, but there is more pop and contrast.

Day 235 – Buddy

Buddy is my sweet boy and he loves to get attention from me and generally sticks close to my side, but when I bring out the camera he gets shy. Getting him to look at the camera can be a challenge, so when I get a couple of good shots of him, I’ve got to share.
