Autumn morning

Just a few quickies from yesterday morning. I have been going through camera withdrawal, as the move has put a serious crimp in my photographic forays.  Afterward, I headed off to the storage unit to grab more boxes to unpack. Almost there . . .

We have two large trees in the backyard: a maple and an apple. The maple is shedding leaves like crazy, but the apple tree is still hanging on to hers.

The dogs are getting used to having dogs all around them.   I can’t tell you how worried I was that we would move into a neighborhood where we’d have the only barking dogs, thereby ensuring our social ostracism.  Fortunately, our two aren’t the worst barkers in the neighborhood.

That is not our pot but a leftover from the previous residents. Needless to say, this little plot of dirt will never see plants actually in the ground. Buddy has already claimed it, so potted plants will be the order of the day.

They don’t know it yet, but as soon as I get dressed, the three of us are going for a W-A-L-K.

Grrr!

Well, I’ve gone through all my subscriptions and “unfollowed” and “followed” again. I’ve gone into my reader as edited my list to receive all posts “instantly” via email. That seems to have done the trick.  But, alas, it appears that  receiving posts via digests no longer works for me.  I tried to change one blog I follow that posts multiple times a day back to receiving it as a daily digest and I did not receive the daily digest notice that usually arrives in my inbox close to midnight.   I went back in, readjusted to receive each post instantly.

I’m frustrated. The point of the daily digest was to keep the amount of email in my inbox to a semi-manageable level.  Oh well.

Sigh . . .

I finally did it

I bought a strobe (with a real live modeling light) and a decent-sized soft box. And of course, I’m practicing.  These are pretty much how they came out of the camera with just minor processing.

As always, Nina makes a semi-willing subject. The nice thing about the strobe is that it recycles quickly, allowing me to make another shot almost immediately. The soft box provides a soft, but well-directed light.

Maya sat still for a few seconds. Thank goodness for the strobe’s quick recycle!
