Weekly Photo Challenge: Kiss

This week’s photo challenge.  There are all kinds of kisses . . .

There are the kisses of young love . . .

There are the kisses of a love that has stood the test of time . . .

Kitty kisses are tentative and filled with whisker tickles  . . .

Dog-to-dog kisses are often misconstrued by stupid humans . . .

Doggie to human kisses can be a bit messy . . .

The Sentinels

An overcast sky made for some wonderful diffused light today.

Such a dirty face!

Buddy on alert for  . . .  what, I have no idea. And Nina wishing she could be on the other side of the fence with me.

Snow and cold don’t make for happy dogs

It has not gotten above freezing for the last ten days so it’s taking a long time for last week’s snow to melt. The pups are putting up with it, but that’s about it. Granted, we aren’t nearly as cold as some areas of the country, but for us this extended cold snap is odd.

Half of the backyard doesn’t get any sun this time of year, so the snow will stay until the temps get higher. Nina and Buddy in the perma-shade section.

Day 326 – Dawgs

It’s the day before Thanksgiving and I got off work a bit early.  So I hit the grocery store (two of them, actually), came home, put the groceries away, and there was still enough light out to head out to the backyard with the pups.  I used off-camera flash for fill. Shot with my 85mm.

My sweet Buddy.

Day 301 – Getting ready for cold weather

The flannel sheets are on our bed, the swamp cooler put to bed for the winter, the dog’s heated water bowl has been plugged in to keep their water from freezing, and today we started working on winterizing their dog house.  I pulled all the blankets and dog beds out into the yard, shook them out and ran the blankets through the washer.   The final step will be to replace the plastic flap doors that help keep out the cold and wet.

Buddy on alert!

Dirty-faced Nina!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Mine (and Day 276)

This week’s photo challenge is “Mine.” There isn’t much I consider mine. Not really.

I have possessions, but all of them can be swept away at any time.

The bank still owns this.

There are fleeting moments I wish were “mine.”

We have creatures who share our lives . . . but are they mine?

The way she orders me around, there is no way she’s “mine.”

This one lets me share “her” bed.

She turned me into a middle-aged woman with a little dog, but Miss “You have to wrestle me to the ground to clip my nails” is not mine.

My loyal boy is not “mine” either.

Fruit of my womb, and I’ll love her until the end of time,  but definitely not “mine.”

Love of my Life. We said, “I do,” but we don’t own each other. We share our lives.

There is just one thing that is really and truly mine.

Me.
