Waiting

Last Saturday I had the honor being the official photographer for the 4th Annual Ride for RAVE.  Northern Nevada RAVE Family Foundation exists to “provide respite for families with special needs children while training high school volunteers to work with these very special children.” (link)

It was a beautiful autumn day and, of course, I took a LOT of photographs and am up to my eyebrows getting them processed and uploaded to the gallery. Here is just one. More to come.

A wonderful day in Nevada

Yesterday afternoon, the news came in that the 9th circuit had struck down Nevada’s constitutional amendment that banned same sex couples from marrying.  It was already on its way out the door. Many of the same voters who had once supported it and pushed it into law, have changed their minds and come over to the side of love with the rest of us. But repealing the amendment was going to take a few more years.  The 9th Circuit Court took care of that for us yesterday.

And so, an impromptu rally was hurriedly put together. We met at Reno City Center at 7:00 pm. We cheered, laughed, smiled, hugged, listened to lots of wonderful people, and marched to the Reno Arch and back again.   A happy day indeed!

I’m shooting for JDRF

Tomorrow I will be donating my services to the Northern Nevada affiliate of the  Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

I’ll be taking part in this year’s Walk to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). Well, I actually won’t be walking, I’ll be photographing the event and donating my images to Northern Nevada JDRF.

But, I wanted to put my money where my camera was and raise money for this worthy cause. So please, if you can, help me reach my goal. I’ve only got one more day to do it. The walk is tomorrow, September 28th!!! The money I raise will help JDRF fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.I’ll be wandering the quad and the course at the University of Nevada with camera in tow.  I’ve also set up a donation page, if you’d like to contribute to this worthy cause.
