I took this original shot at 6400 ISO with lots of noise:
And using Topaz DeNoise converted the shot to this:
Topaz DeNoise allows one to get rid of the noise without destroying the clarity of the photograph.
If you click on each of the images they will open in a separate window where you can examine the larger image. I am particularly happy with her whiskers which still maintain their detail, rather than turning into a blurry mess (which is usually what happens with most “remove grain/noise” options in processing software).
I’ve been thinking of getting that. You may have convinced me.

I don’t know how they do it, but it’s pretty slick. It works best with RAW files.

Thanks for the ‘heads up’ on Topaz….it is a bit of software that had passed me by…downloaded the trial and guess I will buy. As another thought have you tried the beta version of NXD? Looks as if that is what Nikon users will have to use when support for NX2 is withdrawn. Seems good but somehow I don’t find it quite as intuitive….suppose I better practice some more

I don’t have a Nikon camera.

I thought you had made mention in the past of using NX so presumed!…. Well that is one bit of software you will not need to make a decision on.

Impressed with the Trial version of De Noise…..before I buy can I ask if you have working experience of any of the other programs they list and any comments?

Yes, and I really like Topaz BW Effects. I’ve also played with Lens Effects and a few others, but need to get deeper into the software. It’s a bit of laziness on my part. I should avail myself of the tutorials so I really know what I’m doing.
I’d really like to get a handle on ReMask, but haven’t as yet.
