Day 172 – Three Amigos

Reno is an odd town. Within the city you can find patches of rural. Such is the case of the property directly across the street from where I work. I have photographed their property before, but I didn’t realize that these people also owned cattle.  Who knew?

  1. A wonderful trio! Such a great shot! I’m wondering when one is out “in the field” like that (since this is something I have come across myself) when you don’t have time to set up reflectors, etc., how can one bring out the gaze in dark-colored animals with dark eyes?

    • It’s hard, really. You hope the light hits them just right, or try to get them to shift their gaze. Also, in post I try to boost the reflection in their eyes when I boost the sharpness of the image and that helps.I wish I could have gotten more reflection in their eyes and will likely go back to see if I can do better next time.

      • I forgot to mention that this was taken at midday. I would have had better reflection in their eyes if I’d shot them in the morning or late afternoon. Unfortunately, I’m usually stuck at my desk at those times!
