Day 241 – Still Life with Peppers

Practice, practice, practice!

UPDATE:

Set up for first two: Soft box to camera left at a 45º angle. About 5 feet in the air, angled down slightly.  Reflector card to right of peppers.

Third shot: same but dropped soft box a couple of feet. You can see the change in direction.

Set up for wine glass shot: Moved soft box light so light reflected off backdrop through wine glass.  White reflector card held above and to right of objects for fill.

White continuous backdrop (which is a window shade, $11 at Walmart) for all.

Also, I’ve started a Still Life gallery at SmugMug which will give you all the details on ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

Day 156 – Lily

I am posting this from work because a very strong storm is wreaking havoc with the power lines in my town. The power was off and has just come back on, but who knows if it will stay that way.

I shot this beautiful lily at our receptionist’s desk. I processed it in Paint.NET – a free photo-processing software I’m allowed to have at work.  I softened it a bit and think the result is quite pretty.

Day 150 – Pollinators

I went out shooting this afternoon and focused in on these flowering shrubs. I was surprised at the different kinds of pollinators doing their thing. Moths too!

Day 132 – Columbine

The flower, that is.

Taken in my garden this evening using my Speedlite (bounced of the steps to the left of the flower). As this particular side garden is right under our dryer vent, there are a few bits of its output on the flower.
