Finally!

How many trips have I made to L.A. to visit with my dad in the last year? And how many times have I said “This time I’m going to get to the beach?”

Well, dear readers, I finally made it.

Torrance Beach

This is not to say that this trip is not without its stresses, but it was nice to get away for a couple of hours.

That is the description used for Bodie. It is fitting.

Bodie – a few interiors

Some interiors in this post. Interiors often posed a challenge due to the reflections in the windows.

In some cases, the reflection became part of the photograph.

This one I shot through a crack in the door.

This was shot through a knot hole in the wood. This is pretty much how it came out of the camera and I really like the effect.

Sneak Peak: Bodie

Our photographers group went to Bodie State Park today. It’s an amazing ghost town. We were there about five hours and I shot over 600 photos, so it’s going to take me a while to get through them. Here are a few . . .

I’m here

I’m down in southern California for the weekend. Dad is recovering from surgery to remove his left foot. He came through the surgery well, and the physical therapist is working him hard.  We hope that he progresses quickly and gets into his first prosthetic in six weeks or so.  In the meantime, plans are afoot to remodel his tiny bathroom to make access easier for him.

I hope to get to the ocean on this trip. You all know how successful I’ve been at that on previous visits!

I learned to ride a bike on this street – back when those palm trees were not much taller than the cars parked at the curb.
