Pheenix

Pheenix was one of our volunteer models on Wednesday night. She’s a beauty.

These portraits were shot using fluorescent lights. Pulled back to show a bit of the set up.

Speedlight Class

We had fun today!  We moved all over the Nevada Museum of Art with our models. This is Tony. we were on the fourth floor. Speedlight to camera right shooting through white umbrella. White reflector providing fill to camera left. The lovely gleam in the elevator doors was from the window directly behind us.

Can you take good portraits with just a single speedlight? Yes, you can.

Can I recreate this at home?

I am pretty sure I can. I’ll find out on Sunday. I’ve got the lights, the shower curtain, and the ability.

From Wednesday night’s portrait class in Jeff Ross’ studio.

GLC in B&W

And of course, I had to convert some of Gay LeClerc’s portraits to black and white. Because, you know, I love B&W.

This second one is my favorite shot of the whole batch.

Photoshoot: Gay LeClerc

Long time followers may recognize this wonderful woman.  I shot her and her daughter right before Valentine’s Day (see here and here).  She approached me recently about doing some head shots for her. She’s in real estate and needs a nice one for the company website, as well as for her business cards.  We had a wonderful shoot on Saturday morning. She’s an amazing woman and I hope that shines through.

Here are a few of my faves.
