Day 321 – Outside the Sparks Theater

We met some friends tonight for dinner and a movie. Sweetie and I beat our friends to the theater which gave me an opportunity to snap some shots with my iPhone and the Hipstamatic app. This was my favorite and was taken looking out from the theater toward John Ascuaga’s Nugget on Victorian Avenue.

By the way, the movie we saw was “Lincoln,” which is a fantastic film. Steven Spielberg has done it again. The story and acting are superb, and the cinematography was incredible. The film had cool tone and felt to my eyes like a textured vintage photograph. I highly recommend the film. If you can, go see it. Do not wait for the DVD.

Day 166 – Fire in the hills

Brush fire in the hills just south of us. We’re keeping an eye on it. Luckily there is very little wind. Nonetheless, the fire is growing.

Real Estate for Sale

Silver Springs, Nevada – shot December 2011.  This is one of the photos that I shot for my ART 141 final project.  I loved the night shot, but couldn’t really get the day shot to work.   I plan on posting more Lyon County photos going forward.  While it may not be very green, it has it’s own character.

Day 137 – Neighbors

Super busy day. I woke up, grabbed some coffee, finished uploading the Fun Fly photos, was chained to my desk all day, came home to finish up Cindy’s photos so I could get them to her,  then ran a quick vacuum around the house, and THEN I could pick up my camera. I headed outside with my tripod and tried to capture the dusky horizon, and then turned east to see illuminated homes. It’s quite unusual to see all of them lit at the same time, so I gave it a go.  A bit noisy, due to the long exposure, but I kind of like it.

Day 116 – Late Night

Busy day.  Work all day, meeting after work, stop at store after meeting to pick up breakfast foods for early morning client visit.

Late night ice cream.

Late night stock.

Day 111 – Color in different places

Another stab at abstract motion.  I really need to play with this more.

A branch against sunset shot with very shallow depth of field.
