I’m fascinated by these shrubs. I hope you don’t mind a repeat of them. I just love how the afternoon sun makes them shine.
Edited to add: A friend came to the rescue and identified this. It is alderleaf mountain mahogany.

The leaves are starting to change. Before we know it, the trees will be bare.
My foot is getting better every day, but it’s still a bit tender so I took a short, careful walk around the grounds at work this afternoon, and what did I focus on again?
I took these with my 85mm. These are cropped, of course.
I need to stay off my foot as much as I can, so aside from a few household chores, I’ve been a good girl. Still, I needed a photo for today, and the backyard was as good a place to shoot as any. This pear has been sitting our deck rail for a couple of weeks. I set it there to ripen and it’s looking pretty tasty. But the yellow against the redwood stain and the bokeh of the trees is rather pleasing, yes?
This week’s challenge is Near and Far. I thought this image of the thistle with the tops of trees in the distance fit the bill.

Look closely. Can you see the ants in the thistle?
