Day 149 – My roses are not flawless

But they have the most wondrous perfume.

My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips’ red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.

Day 148 – Birthday Present!

Yes, I’m spoiled rotten. I know it. Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-inch LCD

Sweetie gave me a Canon EOS 7D  EF-28-135 IS USM kit for my birthday. I’ve had my eye on one for a while and I’m really, really happy with it.  It’s much heftier that my Rebel T1i, and has a wider range of capabilities.  ISO starts at 100 and increases at 1/3 stop intervals up to 6400.  Very, very little noise at the highest ISO (one of the comments I read over and over and over again about this model).  Also, 100% field of view means the photo I compose in my viewfinder will be the photo the camera will produce. No unknown stuff around the edges.  I took it out for a whirl today.  Here are just a few of my shots.  Very little processing done to these, just a bit of sharpening of the RAW files.

Close-up of  a buckle on my leather jacket.

Rose in the backyard.

Nina on a walk-about in the backyard.

Jezebel by the light of the living room window.

This was my only flash photo…Maya by the front door. Exposed for outdoors with flash used to equalize the indoor lighting.

Day 143 – Hydrangea

These are just outside my parents’ front door.

We’ve spent most of the day at the hospital. Dad had a risky procedure done late yesterday to clear a clot that was blocking the blood flow to his leg. That went well, but more hurdles to come.

I’ll be heading over to see Dad again after dinner. Right now I need to run to the store. Thank you all for your thoughts and good wishes

Day 132 – Columbine

The flower, that is.

Taken in my garden this evening using my Speedlite (bounced of the steps to the left of the flower). As this particular side garden is right under our dryer vent, there are a few bits of its output on the flower.

Day 119 – Spring!

Spring is busting out all over in my backyard.  I shot these this morning while the sun was still relatively low in the sky.

Some apple blossoms . . .

I’m loving the rim from the sunlight in this one.

The lilacs have gone nuts.

I plan on posting more of my f/2.2 photos a bit later today, but first I have PRINTING to do!
