Day 86 – Woman without a home

Taslima Nasrin spoke at the Reason Rally and again yesterday at the American Atheists national convention. She spoke of her exile from her home for the crime of nonbelief and having the audacity to speak out on behalf of those who are oppressed by religion. In a moving conclusion, she told us though she is a woman without her home, she now counted us as her family. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

As imperfect as this photo is, I wanted her portrait to be my photo of the day.

Day 85 – Rain and Flowers

I’ve got a few minutes before dinner. Here’s something lovely I was able to snap this morning before heading into my all-day meeting.

Day 82 – Jake

I’m in Washington, DC and spending the night at an old friend’s house. The thing is my friend isn’t actually here as he was scheduled to be in New York tonight. Long story short, I’ve got the place to myself. Well, almost. Brian’s beloved Jake is keeping me quiet company. He keeps hoping Brian will come through the door.

Day 81 – Smiling Dog

A little evening play time made for a happy, happy dog.

I’ll be on a plane all day tomorrow, heading for Washington, D.C. I’ll have lots of opportunities for photos, but if you don’t hear from me regularly, it’s the trip that’s keeping me away.
