I bought a new camera bag and as I was transferring my gear I noticed that my back-up battery was nowhere to be seen. Every place I’ve looked online can’t get me a replacement until well after my shoot this weekend. I’ll be heading to Gordon’s today with my fingers crossed.

I’m surprised Amazon does not have it available with overnight shipping.
That said, can you borrow one from people in your class? How about your instructor?
If not a battery, I would try to borrow a backup camera.
The other alternative is to rent a back-up camera . . . better yet, time to upgrade and buy a brand new one.
All that said, my battery usually lasts quite a while. Never checked for sure, but probably in the 500+ shots (likely more). If you have VR, you might want to switch it off to conserve battery juice.
Good luck.

Sorry, vibration reduction. Cannon calls it something else.

Amazon has it via Adorama which is closed for Passover until Monday. 😦

And yeah, my battery generally lasts quite a while, but I wanted to make sure I had a back-up, especially for Saturday, which will be a long day. I’m also not sure how many of my shots will be with flash, and that will suck some of the juice as well.

Renting an off-camera flash might help.

By that I mean one that attaches to the camera but has its own power source.
Is there no one else in your class that shoots Canon, has a off-camera flash, or extra battery you could borrow?

I won’t be seeing any of my classmates until after the weekend. I will be shooting tonight at the volunteer meeting, then the event is tomorrow 12-5 and Saturday 9-5. I’ll make it work.

My Speedlite obviously runs on it’s own power, but I am assuming that the transaction between camera and flash will suck some power.

Good luck with your battery. I hope you’re able to find one. Did you try Ritz or Calumet online? Other camera shops in the state may be able to overnight one to you.

No Ritz camera in Nevada. Closest is Folsom, CA. So far to overnight anything will cost me an arm and a leg, so no go.
